This website started as a labor of love while helping my boyfriend learn Bengali. I was looking for resources to help him and found they are almost non-existent. Given there are 250 million Bengali-speaking people in this world, it occurred to me that there must be more people like me and my boyfriend, looking for a way to learn basic conversational Bengali in an easy-to-follow format. That's when I started working on this website. As an avid language learner myself, I tried to incorporate the methods that helped me the most when I was learning a new language.
